Disclaimer

Last updated: 15 May 2026

Read this before relying on anything you see on CauseAlert. CauseAlert aggregates publicly available court listings from HMCTS for search and monitoring. The information on this website is provided “as is” for general information only. It is not legal advice, it is not an official court record, and listings can change at short notice or contain errors. Always verify hearing details with the relevant court or with HM Courts & Tribunals Service before relying on them for any decision, deadline, or attendance.

1. No legal advice

CauseAlert (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an information service, not a law firm. Nothing on this website, in our notifications, in our emails or messages, or in any other communication from us constitutes legal advice, a legal opinion, or a substitute for advice from a qualified solicitor, barrister, or other legal professional.

No solicitor–client, barrister–client, or other professional relationship is created by your use of the Service. If you need advice on a matter of law, procedure, or the conduct of a case, instruct a qualified lawyer.

2. Court data is not authoritative

We aggregate publicly available court listing data (cause lists) from HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) and related public sources. The data is Crown copyright and is displayed in support of the principle of open justice.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of HMCTS, the Ministry of Justice, the judiciary, or any court. The official source of court listing information is HMCTS and the individual court. Our display of that data is an independent third-party aggregation and may differ from the official record.

3. Accuracy, completeness and timeliness

Court listings change frequently and at short notice. Hearings can be added, moved, vacated, relisted, sent to another court, heard in private, or removed from public lists. The data we display may:

  • be out of date by hours or days,
  • be missing hearings that took place or are scheduled,
  • contain names, case numbers, courtrooms, or times that are wrong,
  • misclassify the type of hearing or the parties involved,
  • include automated processing artefacts or extraction errors, and
  • omit hearings subject to reporting restrictions or other legal protections.

We make no representation or warranty, express or implied, that any information on the Service is accurate, complete, current, or reliable. Do not rely on it. Always confirm hearing details directly with the court before acting.

4. Notifications and alerts

Email, SMS, push and in-app alerts are provided on a best-efforts basis. We do not guarantee that any alert will be sent, delivered, delivered on time, delivered to the correct recipient, or received. You must not use CauseAlert alerts as your sole or primary means of tracking hearings, deadlines, or any other time-sensitive matter.

If missing a hearing or deadline would cause you, your client, or any third party loss, harm, prejudice, or sanction, you must maintain an independent system of record and verify directly with the court.

5. Third-party content and links

The Service may include links to, or information about, third-party websites, services, courts, solicitors, chambers, or organisations. We do not control those third parties, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, practices, or any dealings you have with them.

Listings of solicitors and other professionals on CauseAlert are drawn from public sources and are not a recommendation, referral, or warranty of fitness for any purpose.

6. Reporting restrictions and sensitive cases

UK courts impose strict-liability publication restrictions on certain categories of case (including those involving children, alleged victims of sexual offences, and matters subject to court order). We make reasonable efforts to filter restricted matter out of the Service, but no filter is perfect. You are responsible for ensuring that anything you publish, share, or act upon based on data from CauseAlert complies with all applicable reporting restrictions and court orders. If you believe data on the Service breaches a reporting restriction or court order, contact us immediately at removals@causealert.com.

7. Case removal requests

If you are a party to a case, a legal representative, or otherwise named in or identifiable from a listing displayed on CauseAlert, and you want that listing removed, email removals@causealert.com. Please include the court name, case number or case name, the hearing date if known, the URL on CauseAlert where the listing appears, and a brief reason for the request.

We will review every request promptly and, where it is appropriate to do so (for example, where a reporting restriction or court order applies, where data is inaccurate, or where continued display would be unfair), remove or correct the listing. We may decline requests that conflict with the principle of open justice or with our legal obligations, and we will explain our reasoning where we do.

8. No professional, financial or business advice

CauseAlert is not a source of legal, financial, regulatory, investment, journalistic, or business advice. Any decision you make in reliance on the Service — including whether to attend a hearing, whether to file or serve a document, whether to take or decline instructions, what to report or publish, or whether to trade on the basis of any information — is taken at your own risk and on your own professional judgement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CauseAlert, its owners, directors, employees, contractors, agents, and suppliers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss or damage of any kind arising out of or in connection with your use of, reliance on, or inability to use the Service, including without limitation loss of profits, loss of business, loss of revenue, loss of clients, loss of reputation, loss or corruption of data, missed hearings, missed deadlines, wasted costs, adverse costs orders, sanctions, contempt findings, judgments entered in absence, or any other professional, financial, or personal consequence, whether the loss was foreseeable or not.

Nothing in this Disclaimer limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

10. Relationship to our Terms and Privacy Policy

This Disclaimer forms part of, and is to be read together with, our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If there is any inconsistency between this Disclaimer and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service prevail.

11. Governing law

This Disclaimer is governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with it.
